VW Lupo Diesel Tuning

Here we are discussing the tuning of Volkswagen Lupo 3L TDI model. Volkswagen has put all its efforts in making it world’s first 3 Liter fuel consuming car. This car appears very tall, while width fairly extensive. Basically it has a feminine look and plain all over.

The 1.2-litre three-cylinder engine under the hood is the first diesel engine with cylinder head, cylinder block in aluminum.  A balancer shaft is used to suppress vibrations, which results it in an extremely smooth engine. Inoculation is through pump that induces high-pressure unit injector elements set in the cylinder head and motivated by the camshaft. The higher pressure leads into a more proficient burn with enhanced economy & performance.

The overall weight of this Lupo model stays at 1,882 lbs – over 1,000 lbs. The highest speed of the Lupo 3L TDI is 165 km/h (102 mph) and acceleration pickups from 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) within 14.5 seconds. One of the major drawbacks is lower fuel consumption which is a problematic in the winter month. To provide sufficient heating fuel is not burned for the commuter compartment. But we have an option of electric heater for this purpose.

There is a latest direct shift gearbox (DSG) seen in the R32 and Audi TT 3.2, with a different programming and one less gear. DSG is a double-clutch, controlled electronically like in appearances to a tiptronic automatic, but more like a manual gearbox mechanically within – no clutch pedal. The engine can be started keeping the brake pedal down & in situation “E” the car drives off when the accelerator is down, and the driver has options to select between the economy and the automatic mode through the switch. All external body parts are unlike the standard Lupo regarding the material and other elements used in making outer covering.

The suspension systems of the Lupo 3L TDI, walk at front, torsion beam trailing arm axle at rear – have been made larger in the name of improvement. At front there is damper support, the engine sub frame and the brake calipers made of Aluminum. On the rear axle, while trailing arms are made of steel. Coil springs and dampers, the latter in Aluminum, are not added in the base model, which is giving more room in interior hatch space. The rear drum brakes are also made of aluminum. Alloy wheels of the Lupo 3L TDI are heavy as well good-looking.

All other parts like springs, drive shafts, brake servo, pedals and steering column are weight optimized. Even the gas-filled struts & engine bonnet have also been weight optimized by making these of aluminum. The thermal tinted glass window is very thinner and also weight optimized for better pickup, speed and fuel consumption.
