VW Polo Tuning


The first VW Polo was released in Aug 1974 and since then it has gone through 4 generation of VW polo. These generations are recognized by a series or Mark no. The VW Polo is a sedan car. It is having the same feature like other more compact & inexpensive cars. Polo is second smallest car of VW, a bit larger than Fox and smaller than the Golf. With the passage of time its size has increased in the later models.

The Mark II and IIF were available as supercharged G40 model. The GT G40 with its 1.3-litre 85 kW (115 bhp) could attain 100 km/h (62 mph) in 8.1 s from standstill and had a maximum speed of 196 km/h (122 mph).

Mark Polo IVF has won several awards like junior world rally championship. A GTI version of the Polo Mark IVF was released in 2006. This features styling similar to that of the contemporary Golf GTI and a turbocharged 20-valve 150 bhp 1.8-litre petrol engine. It has a 0-60 mph time of 8.2 s and a top speed of 134 mph (216 km/h).

It is mandatory to be careful before tuning up VW Polo. You should get the right version prepared with the right engine. If you have a plan of tuning up your car in the coming time than you should go to bought Polo Mark IV. You may get confuse by looking at different variants of Polo. But don’t be sightless by the poor quality of the 1.0 L engine because it will give you trouble even after costly alteration. Rest of the engine types are fine, although 1.8L should be amazing. But if your funds could not pay for a 1.8 T, than a 1.4 16V is also good enough.

No matter it is Polo or Golf but the best & most reasonable alteration or upgrading should be the air filter or exhaust system. There is no need to upgrade the panel filter with the 104 or even with the 108T. You should go for this upgrade until you don’t have enough cash in your hand to upgrade it to the more powerful engine. And if you do such, find a 1.8T if you originally bought the 1.4, or if you find the 1.8T already, then next choice should be the VR6.

Although you should take some steps during tuning, otherwise it may create problem for further. The first thing is the suspension since VW Polo is elevated than it should be. You can get solve this problem through lowering the strut to about 42mm than the original. If you go for this act, the center of gravity in the car will be maintained, so it will lead towards improved handling & stability of car. Besides this you should also choose for firmer springs to make stable the feel of the car. Or better so far, you could attach a changeable suspension if you could pay for it.

To improve the lowered VW Polo and to boost handling, it is prudent to use 18? wheels. You may go for something smaller, but 18? look is better. Make sure to use a good quality tires with the wheels. Superior tires might be more costly, but they will prove best in the future.
