Auto Tuning in Pieces – Major Areas of Auto Tuning

In developed countries like United States, people do like to be called auto-tuning experts and it is one of the most common hobbies to experiment with your car. There are thousands of people who like to call themselves auto-tuning experts. With different types of auto tuning pieces involved in the tuning process, there are many facets to the complete process. Some of the major focus areas of auto tuning are:

Engine Tuning

The parts involved in tuning of the engine are expected to improve the performance of the engine with higher attainable speeds and smooth transmission. When tuning the engine the major changes are done, include adjustment in the air/fuel ratios, installation of better fuel injectors and intake valves with lower restriction values. Another major boost given to engine includes installation of Nitrous Oxide so as to enrich the fuel mixture which when burnt will generate more energy and hence more power.

Suspension Tuning

The suspension tuning is done to improve the ride of the car on road. Basically, modifications in the shock-absorbers and springs suspension system of the car are the major changes. Some enthusiasts go for modification in strut bars and sway bars too.

Body Tuning

As the word makes it clear, body tuning involves modification in the car’s body. It is done to make the car’s appearance more appealing by adding spoilers and other accessories. Some of the tuning experts prefer removing existing body parts like handles, bumps and some other protruding parts to give the aerodynamic ratings of the car a boost.

Modifications (the body and the inside)

Auto tuning not only includes the interior modifications and the playing with the engine but it also spans across modifying the exterior look of the car. It includes using stickers, paints, neon lights, new wheels and tires as well as attractive and fancy headlights on the outside of the car. Spinners is one of the most widely used auto tuning parts for the exterior modification and is almost found in every car tuning expert’s workshop. Some of the accessories used in the interior modification of the car include radio systems, classy speaker systems, leather seats, steering wheel modification by using a more attractive one in place of the stock steering wheel and dashboard modification. LCD screens with DVD players too have become quite a common choice. Auto tuning is a fun process to go through but only thing imperative is that you ought to have or choose the right parts.

Techart Porsche Cayenne Diesel V6

The car tuning company Techart has released the details of the Porsche Cayenne Diesel V6. The first production diesel model of the car was taken by this German car tuning company to create a tuning program that included chassis, engine, exterior and interior modifications. In the engine, the power kit deployed by the Techart upgraded the power of the 3.0 liter Cayenne diesel engine to 290 hp from previously 240 hp. It also upgraded the torque from 550 Nm to 630 Nm at 2200 RBMP. With the fuel consumption and CO2 emissions levels remaining unchanged, the pickup of the car improved drastically. It could attain a speed of 0-60 mph within 7.7 seconds with the upgrade in the engine. The tuning company even went on to add a control module in its program for the air suspension of Porsche Cayenne Diesel. It was added so that the aerodynamics of the Porsche could be improved while lowering the car too. The Porsche has alloy wheels of dimension 21 inches that are wrapped around Michelin Diamaris 4×4 XL 295/35 R21 tires.

Why is Aerodynamics important in Car Tuning? Guide to Aerodynamics

Today in the automobile engineering, the concept of car’s aerodynamics has become an integral part to work and improve it further so that the efficiency of the car gets even better. Aerodynamics is indeed very important for the overall performance of a car and its handling on the road. Enthusiasts have burnt their midnight oil to improve the exteriors of the cars with their innovative ideas and engineering skills. The car tuning specialists and hobbyists lay special importance on the aerodynamics of the car when you will go for a modification. Many sports car racers go for aerodynamics tuning just not to get their personalized look for their machine but also to improve its overall performance.

Highly sophisticated yet improved aerodynamics of a car helps it get more grip on the road while traversing at very high velocity. It reduces its overall energy consumption even when cornering thus making it more fuel-efficient. This is all achieved by the use of non-air resistive body and a lightweight casing on the car. We hear a lot about fatal accidents of highly speeding cars, one reason behind this is that these cars are not aerodynamically aligned. At very high speeds the cars that are poorly aligned aerodynamically tend to lose traction on the wheels thus making it difficult for the driver to control the car. Secondly, a lot of power needs to be generated to keep the car at the same speed as the thrust of the head on wind makes it slow.

What are Exhaust Systems? Car Exhaust System

The system that helps eject out the residual particles and the burnt gases from the internal combustion engine of the car through a network of exhaust pipes is called Exhaust system. The chief usability of the whole system is in reduction of the pollutant content of the exhaust gases generated in the combustion engine. The leftover exhaust gas is vented out from an opening in the vehicle at some suitable point. During the whole discharge process, the engine power has to be as low as possible.

Talking about a conventional exhaust system of a car, it has three major parts: Catalytic converter, mufflers and the exhaust pipes.
